[Straits Times] Error in fund transfer: DBS replies

WE THANK Mr Francis Chia Han Jeng for his feedback ("Do more to prevent fund transfer errors"; Tuesday) and have since contacted his wife.
We have explained to Mrs Chia that the other account holder's consent is required for debiting from his account, where her funds had been mistakenly transferred to.
In this case, we have tried to contact the account holder by phone several times, but to no avail.
As for Mr Chia's suggestion for a delay in the actual transfer of the funds to the receiving party, we do have an option for customers to effect the transaction at a later date.
This will allow them to cancel the transaction if the transfer details are incorrect.
