WHAT Ms Amy Loh Chee Seen is advocating is not a bolt from the blue ("Reverse trend of speaking poor English"; Tuesday).
The Ministry of Education may wish to re-look its current English curriculum and ensure that all teachers speak well, with clear diction, during lessons.
All O-level students should also have a basic knowledge of English phonetics, to help in their O-Level Oral English examination.
Having role models is another sure way to encourage students and adults alike to speak and write using better English.
