THE ill effects of noise and air pollution from highways are well documented.
As my home is situated right next to the Central Expressway, I am exposed to very noisy traffic conditions.
Often at night, just when I am about to fall asleep, a noisy motorbike or car racing past will wake me up.
The noise arising from accidents, car horns, bursting tyres and sirens are some examples of what those who live near expressways are exposed to every day.
As a result, the volume of television shows, radio programmes and even voices rise in tandem.
I am also worried about how the air pollutants could be affecting my health.
I urge the Land Transport Authority and other relevant authorities to study and eradicate this problem.
If placing a prefabricated dome-shaped roof over these stretches of the highway can help to eliminate the air and noise pollution, please get it done so that a good night's sleep can be had by those affected.
