A FACEBOOK video of a passenger behaving rudely towards a taxi driver has gone viral ("Passengers berate us often: Cabbies"; Tuesday).
Netizens have uncovered the passenger's identity, and he has been subjected to numerous insults, which have also impacted his family.
Even though the passenger's face was not shown in the video, his voice was present, and this was probably what led to his identification.
In such a case, the voice data captured can be considered the personal data of the passenger. As it was collected in a shared personal space, it needs to be subject to the Personal Data Protection Act.
Can the taxi operator, Land Transport Authority and Personal Data Protection Commission share their views on this incident?
