[Straits Times] What happened to EPL match screenings at CCs?

LAST year, it was announced that community centres (CCs) here would screen English Premier League matches for free ("Watch EPL for free at 24 CCs"; Aug 17, 2014).

However, after a few matches, including the highly rated match between Manchester United and Liverpool, the screenings seem to have stopped, even though the EPL season is still ongoing.

There does not seem to be any official announcement or update on this.

I joined in to watch an EPL match at a CC last year, and enjoyed myself. I cheered with everyone when a goal was scored, and bonded with my community.

The end of the live screenings would surely disappoint many football fans.

I hope the People's Association will continue to screen football matches at the CCs.

Besides the EPL, I hope matches from other leagues and competitions can also be screened, for instance, the Bundesliga, La Liga, Uefa Champions League, and the FA Cup.

Let us also not forget the Hyundai A-League, in which our national defender Safuwan Baharudin is currently playing as part of Melbourne City FC.

Having our footballer play in an overseas league brings glory to our nation, and we should show our support for him.
