WHO: Eden Chua, 16, student.
MY FAMILY: My father, 45, my mother, 45, and my sister, 11.
MY HOME: A five-room HDB flat in Bukit Timah.
MY HOBBIES: Reading, writing and scrolling through social networking site Tumblr.
I STARTED WRITING TO THE FORUM PAGE IN...: February last year.
WHAT I WRITE ABOUT: A wide variety of issues affecting Singapore - more specifically, those that have underlying issues which could negatively affect the minority groups in society.
WHY I WRITE: I believe that one is never too young to speak up on issues that one feels strongly about in order to bring about positive change and progress. Also, I feel that controversial issues (such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights) should not be shied away from but instead be discussed in a diplomatic and respectful way.
I READ THE FORUM PAGE BECAUSE...: I find it interesting and engaging to read the contrasting opinions of typical Singaporeans from all walks of life.
MY WISH FOR SINGAPORE: That Singaporeans will become more open to seeing things from different perspectives, with empathy.
