WHO: Jolly Wee, 66, a retired service company director.

MY FAMILY: Married to a housewife, Susan, 58, with a daughter, Su Lin, 36, and a son, Ler Ping, 32.

MY HOME: An HDB maisonette apartment in the east of Singapore.

MY PASSIONS: Writing, drawing, reading, karaoke singing and, as a trained toastmaster, I love to watch speeches.

I STARTED WRITING TO THE FORUM PAGE IN...: 2008.

WHAT I WRITE ABOUT: Socio-political and environmental issues that may impact the well-being of the man in the street and that of Singapore as a whole.

WHY I WRITE: As a citizen, I feel that I should contribute comments and suggestions that may help make Singapore a better place to live, work and play in.

I READ THE FORUM PAGE BECAUSE...: It attracts a wide spectrum of views from readers from all walks of life: professionals, working-class men and women, housewives and students.

MY WISH FOR SINGAPORE: That we not forget our country's past poverty as we enjoy our astronomical success today, and to stay united as one people and to plan now as a country for a secure future in the next 50 years.
