[Straits Times] Tighten rules on smoking near buildings

AS A non-smoker, I am concerned every time my wife, my four children and I pass by smokers along the passages and outside the entrances and exits of public buildings.

I hope the authorities will consider increasing the prohibited zone to 20m from a building, and locate designated smoking areas at the back of buildings, instead of at the entrances.

Surveillance and enforcement also need to be stepped up in public areas, especially in parks.

Perhaps, more warning signs can be put up and more promotional activities conducted to spread the message.
