WE THANK Mr Tony Lim Thiam Poh for his feedback ("Increase Traffic Police presence"; April 13).
The Traffic Police have expanded their patrol team and also leveraged technology to augment their enforcement efforts.
For example, 240 new digital red-light cameras and 20 new digital speed- enforcement cameras will be progressively installed by the end of this year.
The Traffic Police also encourage members of the public, as their eyes on the road, to send in video footage of both exemplary and bad road behaviour.
The public can use the E-Feedback on Road Users platform to conveniently submit reports and provide feedback to the Traffic Police.
This online portal has been upgraded to allow the submission of video footage
of up to 50MB in file size,
up from the previous 2MB.
Enforcement efforts must be complemented with education to shape better road behaviour.
The Use Your RoadSense movement that was
launched recently seeks to promote a culture of road safety.
Keeping our roads safe is a shared responsibility.
All road users are encouraged to join these efforts to make our roads even safer for all.
