We thank Mr Francis Cheng for his letter “Review safeguards to prevent accidental deluge” (April 16).
Currently, all contractors working within the tunnel are required to follow a set of standard operating procedures to ensure the safety of their workers and other road users in the Marina Coastal Expressway tunnel.
While our initial investigation showed that the system was triggered accidentally, we recognise that there is room for further improvement.
We are working with the various parties involved to conduct a full review of our processes with the aim of preventing a recurrence.
