[Straits Times] Set up method to report illegally modified e-bikes

I AM a motorcycle rider and was shocked to read that some people were modifying their e-bicycles to go at up to a speed of 120kmh ("Ex-motorbikers turn to e-bicycles, some illegally modified"; last Saturday).

This is extremely dangerous not only for the rider, but also for others around him.

It is good that there are those who are very respectful of safety, keep to the correct speed and lane, and do all that is necessary to stay safe.

But not all riders are well disciplined.

Motorcyclists who have had their licences revoked are likely to have committed an offence. Hence, there is bound to be some danger in allowing them back on the road.

Shop owners and mechanics who help to modify the e-bikes contribute to the danger to the community.

For the sake of safety, I hope the Land Transport Authority can set up a website where we can make a report if we suspect an e-bike has been illegally modified.
