I AGREE with Mr Chan Chong Pak ("Simple way to rein in abuse of health-care claims"; last Thursday).
My wife received treatment at a dental clinic, where there was no charge - hence no invoice - after the pioneer generation subsidy. She had no idea how much subsidy was claimed by the clinic.
When she visited a general practitioner, she was issued an invoice for $90, which excluded the $28.50 pioneer subsidy. She was asked to sign a form so that the doctor could make a claim.
She was surprised it cost that much, and is convinced the Pioneer Generation card offers no benefit for visits to general practitioner clinics.
