[Straits Times] S'poreans owe much to Mr Lee

NEWS that former prime minister Lee Kuan Yew remains critically ill has captured world attention.

Mr Lee is 91 years old, but many of us hope he can live up to 100.

Singaporeans owe much to Mr Lee. Without him, I doubt if our country could have survived the early days, or if we could have attained such a high standard of living today.

He transformed the lives of many Singaporeans. Many are successful today because of his education policies. He also made Singapore's public service system one of the most efficient in the world.

Thank you, Mr Lee, for what you have done for us and our children.
