Do exceptional times bring out exceptional kindness? Is kindness part of Singaporeans' nature?

Showing kindness is spontaneous whether in exceptional times or ordinary ones.

- Harry Chia

The kindness we saw was specific to the one week of national mourning.

We should not conclude that kindness is present in society as a whole at all times.

- Wilkie Ong Keng Soon

Kindness comes from the heart. It cannot be forced through teaching and education alone. It should be practised at all times, not just during moments of anguish or in trying to attain popularity.

Is punishing people for illegally downloading movies effective in combating piracy?

I agree with prosecuting offenders. If it is paid content, why would you steal it?

More legal options might be one solution, but their absence does not sanction piracy.

- Mike Powell

If more legal options were available here - such as Netflix, HBO Go - piracy would be reduced. iTunes helps, but sometimes, you just want to pay a fixed rate instead of "a la carte" prices.

- Jan Michael Tan

File sharing is the future. Technology has evolved enough to give us the ability to share whatever we want.

The movie companies need to get with the times, instead of fighting against the change.

Are there gaps in Singapore's scholarship selection process that allow 'bad seeds' through?

There's really nothing you can do to stop this type of thing from happening. People make bad decisions when facing mental problems...

- Kahlil Stultz

Being book-smart doesn't mean you're really intelligent... nor does doing well in school mean you are emotionally stable or will conform to social norms. Some of the smartest people become social deviants as their intelligence distances them from others. The question is, what are we sponsoring scholarship holders for?
