Should the Strait of Johor be turned into a hub for water catchment, aquaculture and tourism? What sort of joint activities can Singapore and Malaysia hold there?
It is a good idea, but not doable. It means having to redesign drainage systems, shift industries, implement tough laws and establish strong environmental agencies, educate the public, and having strong government will.
- Shaun Sim
This would be a good venue for bilateral cultural exchange. Water activities can give weekend respite to families from both countries.
- Yoong Seng Yong
Clean up the coastline and let marine life return. Then anyone can go fishing. Or organise sea sport activities... Organise friendly sporting events between the two sides.

Would having CCTV cameras in lifts be an invasion of privacy? How else can security at HDB blocks be improved?
CCTV cameras act as a deterrent, and if a crime is committed, it will help the police in nabbing the culprit.
- Mervin Quah
There is no question of privacy at all. The lift is a public space.
- Rei Foh
I don't see it as an invasion of privacy. Such cameras are also installed in many lifts in shopping malls and hotels, for example. If such a move is needed to deter criminal and/or offensive acts, then it should be supported.
- Peter Ching
I like CCTV cameras to be installed inside and outside lifts... but it is no use if the camera is installed but not activated and not recording.
- Nanie Emkay
What can be done to better support people with autism and their families in Singapore?
Educate the population... so everyone can respect people with autism and treat them like any other normal person, not giving them strange looks and stares.
- Yvonne Tan
Have more than one special education primary school. Currently, there is only one - Pathlight School - and the queue to enter is notoriously long. Next, lower fees for pre-primary early intervention programmes.
- Theodore Yeo
The learning curve for those with autism is longer than normal. The immediate need is to extend their education at least until age 21 from the current 18 years.
- Soek-Ying Denise Koh
There is a lack of daycare and residential homes for adults with autism... Sibling workshops, parent training and family therapy are crucial in providing support.
