I APPLAUD the recent changes to the Cabinet ("Masagos promoted to full minister in Cabinet changes"; yesterday).
As a Malay/Muslim Singaporean, I welcome the promotion of Mr Masagos Zulkifli to full minister.
He has proven his dedication, hard work and effort, and he really deserves this promotion.
Furthermore, he is really well connected on the ground and close to the issues facing our Malay/Muslim community, especially in areas like education and the fight against youth crime and drug abuse.
This is the first time that there will be two full ministers from the Malay/Muslim community in the Cabinet.
I hope this move will signal a long-term and significant commitment from the Government towards the Malay/Muslim community as we progress together as a nation, especially as we are in the midst of the SG50 celebrations now.
The latest changes also signal that the Government is preparing its fourth generation of leaders, who would likely lead the ruling party into the next general election.
