[Straits Times] List pilots' names on airline websites

LATELY, when we hear of plane crashes, it seems that pilots are being held responsible ("Co-pilot treated for suicidal tendencies"; Tuesday).

Pilots go through physical and other forms of tests before they are given the green light to fly a plane.

But they are human too, and they can be affected by situations in their personal lives.

Anything can happen a few thousand feet up in the sky.

It is about time passengers knew beforehand who is flying their plane.

Airlines should have a list of all their pilots on their websites. If a passenger knows that something is not right with a pilot, the information can be passed on to the airline.

The lives of hundreds of passengers are put into the hands of one or two men.

Would it not be better for us to know if we are in safe hands?
