Will increasing the amount of paternity leave make a difference in changing gender norms? What else can be done to promote gender equality?

I do not want my husband to apply for paternity leave, then laze around at home.

Gender equality means giving us women more opportunities at work and making everyone believe women can handle much bigger jobs.

Many have suggested that maternity leave be extended, but will bosses want to keep someone who is going to be away for six months?

One of the issues is that newly pregnant women are often not favoured by employers, especially if they are new to a company.

Will giving more paternity leave help solve this issue?

- Jenny Goh

Give fathers the option of using the maternity leave given to mothers. This can promote shared responsibility in looking after babies.

- Wilkie Ong Keng Soon

Women shouldn't be burdened because they choose to have children, and men deserve the right to a reasonable amount of paternity leave.

One solution to the issue of discrimination against women is to make it explicitly illegal to pay an individual less because of gender.

A writer has suggested that Singapore MRT stations adopt a colour-coding system for signs. Do you agree? How else can signage be improved?

Aren't our MRT lines already colour-coded? It is so widely known that even our lines are referred to as the "Red Line" and "Green Line"... There are also plenty of signs at interchange stations and stickers on the ground.

Try fixing the operational problems before tackling the cosmetic issues.

Singapore's signage is definitely among the best in the world. Uniform fonts, uniform colours, uniform symbols.

I don't think there is much to improve there.

- Michael Petraeus

I miss the old colour-coding system: a different colour for each direction - for example, yellow for going towards Yishun and red for going towards Marina Bay.

It was a good system, so why was it changed to the current one in the first place?
