[Straits Times] Cost of niche doesn't equate with level of love

A SIMPLE, fuss-free niche can be as respectful to the dead as a pricey one ("Carving a niche in after-death services"; Monday).

There is nothing wrong with opting for upmarket after-death services if one can afford it, especially if one feels that his deceased loved ones deserve better resting places.

For others, low-cost government niches and those offered by religious institutions are viable alternatives.

We must not equate buying premium packages with having more respect for the deceased; spending on a standard or simple one does not mean the family is less respectful or loving.

What really matters is that memories of our loved ones who have passed away should remain in our hearts and minds at all times.
