[Straits Times] Keeping his memory alive

IT IS an undisputed fact that Mr Lee Kuan Yew dedicated his entire life to build Singapore.

The following are my suggestions in honour of Mr Lee, the icon of Singapore's success, so that his legacy can live on and be remembered for generations to come:

- Declare Sept 16 (his birthday) as Lee Kuan Yew Day - a national public holiday every year to honour this great man. Observance and celebratory events - such as "LKY Fest", for example - can be held in schools on the eve of the holiday and nationwide on the actual day.

- Rename Changi Airport as Lee Kuan Yew Airport.

- Rename Tanjong Pagar Road, Tanjong Pagar MRT station and Tanjong Pagar GRC to bear his name.

- Have Mr Lee's image on our currency notes.

- Conserve Mr Lee's home - 38, Oxley Road - as a museum to commemorate Mr Lee's contributions and to preserve Singapore's heritage.
