[Straits Times] Minimise disruption over JC delay

MY DAUGHTER at CHIJ St Nicholas Girls' will also been affected by the delay in the completion of the new JC ("High-rise JC delayed by 'new LTA requirement'"; Sunday).
I would like to suggest the following alternatives for the Education Ministry's consideration:
- Look for a nearby alternative site and expedite the building of the new JC, preferably ready by the original timeline.
- Allow students to apply for other Integrated Programme JCs nearer their homes at the end of Year 4, if the new building is not ready for their enrolment in Year 5.
These suggestions could minimise disruption to all parties concerned, including St Joseph's Institution students.
Some parents may be at their wits' end and may be contemplating transferring their children to the O-level programme.
This should be the last resort, as it may not be best for the development of the children. After having worked hard to qualify for the programme, they should be allowed to benefit from it.
