Tackle 'unfair' pump pricing
DESPITE many saying that there is unfair pricing by petrol companies, nothing seems to be done about it.
When oil prices are falling, petrol companies are very slow in lowering their pump prices.
The usual reason given is that pump prices are dependent not just on crude oil prices, but also on other factors.
However, the moment the prices of crude oil move up just a little, the companies are very quick to raise the pump prices.
It seems that petrol companies are the only winners of low crude oil prices here. They continue to charge high prices although they are buying oil at a much lower price.

Bring back road courtesy campaign
THE last time there was a road courtesy campaign was in 2012. It is time to have one again.
Every day, there are instances of drivers trying to cut into one another's paths without giving the proper signal. And when they do signal, they do not wait for the other drivers to slow down before moving in.
Many close shaves also occur between motorcyclists and drivers because they do not give way to one another.

Improve coupon parking scheme
THE coupon parking system is sometimes unfair to motorists: Even when you need to park for just a few minutes, you have to use a 30-minute coupon.
Most carparks with gantry control provide a 10- to 15-minute grace period and I am perplexed why this cannot be extended to coupon parking.
My suggestion: The warden should first note the particulars of the vehicle and take a time-stamped photo. He then proceeds to check the other vehicles in the vicinity.
If the vehicle is not removed after 10 minutes have lapsed, the warden issues the ticket.

Keep the hongbao real
GIVING out virtual hongbao is too robotic for my liking ("No queueing for notes, just use app to give out hongbao"; last Wednesday).
Queueing up at the banks and getting your hands on those crisp new notes are part and parcel of the festive fun.
There is pleasure and joy in slotting the notes into the red packets too.
Giving out hongbao to relatives and friends, and seeing the delight on their faces, has been a long tradition and should not be abandoned because of the advancement of technology.
