[Straits Times] Allow classical instruments at festival

MUSIC helps motivate and alleviate the weariness of kavadi carriers during Thaipusam ("Reconsider music ban at festival" by Mr Chandra Das; Forum Online, yesterday).

If instruments such as drums, cymbals and horns are deemed a nuisance, then allow instruments such as the nadeswaram, tavil or mirdumgam - which are classical instruments associated with devotional practices - with certain guidelines and conditions.

We need to grow and change with the times. There was a time casinos were not allowed, yet they are in operation today.
