WE ARE sorry to hear of the accident that Mr Yeo Meng Cer's neighbour had at the executive condominium's basement carpark ("Poor cellphone coverage in basements a safety concern"; March 12).
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) would like to assure Mr Yeo that under IDA's 3G Quality of Service framework, all the mobile network operators are required to provide mobile coverage inside buildings, upwards from the first basement carpark level.
We have since contacted Mr Yeo, and we will be conducting measurements at the executive condominium.
IDA will ensure that the mobile network operators improve the service coverage in areas where they have fallen short.
