I SUPPORT Mr Tan Suan Tiu's suggestion to implement some form of a Creative Commons scheme, so that childcare operators may share materials in a common pool to avoid duplication of effort ("Have a common pool of materials"; Thursday).
Ironically, reinventing the scheme in itself would be a duplication of effort, as the Creative Commons scheme is already well thought out and used throughout the world.
If high-quality course material is shared, it can only be for the benefit of all children under such operators. Low-quality content should be fixed or ignored, regardless of the permissions afforded by a licence.
After all, childcare operators should not have to worry about the quality of the course materials on offer, taking their attention from the children they are supposed to care for.
